@ Symbol Usage When NOT An E-Mail

Carolyn

Word/Excel automatically treats words around the @ symbol
as an e-mail address by underlining and "bluing" it. I
found that if I input with a space around the @ symbol it
keeps it looking like normal text. However, I cannot go
back and edit the problem out where it's already entered
and treated as an e-mail address/link.

Can I edit the text around an @ symbol to have it
appear "normal"? I can change the font from blue to
black, but I cannot get rid of the underlining.

Carolyn,

If you select the text and depress CTRL+SHIFT+F9 is will
remove the hyperlink and convert to normal text.

To stop this behavior, go to Tools>Autocorrect
Options>Auto Format As You Type and uncheck "Internet and
network paths with hyperlinks."

Thank you, Greg. I couldn't find the answer anywhere.
Let's hear it for the human touch!!!
