Symbol 8846 disk space

Does anyone who own a Symbol 8846 and/or 8046 be able to tell me what
the actual disk space is that I can use to store data ?

On the 8846 I gathered that the largest disk contains only 64MB - how
much of this 64 MB can I use to store my own data ?

On the 8046 (128MB), how much can I use to store my own data ?

Apologies for the sort of x-posting

thanks

Well, first of all, when you say store your own data, do you mean normal
storage or flash storage? If flash storage, the 64/128 MB is irrelevant as
flash isn't counted in those figures. If you mean normal usage, you have to
ask how big are the disk images of all your programs, how much memory do
they consume when running etc. As a general rule, you can assume at least
half of the RAM value is usable for your data storage.
So, just how much data do you need to store?

I meant normal storage, for instance to store bitmap and xml files. My
application would use about 3500KB a day (assuming fair/average
usage). Assuming that the data files reside on the PPC for five days
as a backup it gives a total of about 17500KB for five days.

Can I store that on a 64MB RAM / 64 MB ROM device ? (the PPT 8846 is
not available in 128MB edition).

Yes, you should be able to keep 17.5 MB of data on a 64 MB PPT8846 without
it being a problem.
