Does anyone have a clue what the idea is behind Symantec's pricing of Norton
AntiVirus? Upgrading 2003 to 2004 "download edition" is $29.95. Upgrading
2003 to 2004 "package edition" is $29.95. Renewing the 2003 virus update
subscription is...$29.95. Is there supposed to be an incentive in there
somewhere? At least you'd think that downloading would be cheaper than
getting a CD shipped. Or?

I just paid 9.99 at Best Buy (after rebates) for NAV 2004 rather than buy the
subscription renewal. See http://www.salescircular.com under
software/utilities to find current pricing.

As to Symantec's pricing, I can only think that they're thinking you'll think
that $29.95 is a bargain because the list price at any store is $49.99.
