Symantec LiveUpdate problem

This is a Windows XP help and support forum...I don't see Symantec anywhere.

Given that with every new release or major update of a Microsoft Windows
platform, new Windows function render items Symatec's products useless,
one can imply that there is a natural opposition for each other's product.

Now let's try and help you to help yourself. If you use the help files in
NAV you will find the clues to setting up the internet connection or such
that NAV will use Internet explorer's settings.

If you have difficulty with this, you will find the Symantec help line very
useful and they will talk you though the process, step by step. There may be
a small fee attached, howver you will have everything working properly.

In the "search" box, you can write:

"liveupdate could not get the list of updates"

I have installed Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition v8 on my PC am get the
following message when I try to LiveUpdate:

LiveUpdate could not get the list of updates.
LiveUpdate could not retrieve the catalog file of available Symantec product
updates.Please check that your connection to the Internet is functioning
correctly and retry LiveUpdate.

What settings should I check?
Running Windows XP Pro
Connection through modem at home. Single PC.

The first thing you need to check is your clock; you're posting in the
future.
