It took so long to install Vista that I forgot to update my Symantec
Antivirus before actually upgrading to Vista. I upgraded after the fact and
now get an incompatability error: This version of Symatec AntiVirus does
not support Windows Vista Platform. I tried to uninstall the antivirus
software but I get the same message. Any suggestions?

Any info would be appreciated!

The best thing you can do at this point is to back up any data that you have
on your computer. Just the data, pictures, documents, spreadsheets, etc....
If you have a CD-RW/DVD-RW, then do the backup.

Do a clean install of Vista on your PC, then install AVG Free or AVAST which
works well with Vista. Upgrades usually are hard to deal with, you will
never fully get rid of pesky problems with your old system. I am sure
people will say that this is over kill, but up front you will spend more
time formatting and installing everything from scratch, but in the long run,
you will have less problems, thus saving grief and time. A much better
solution if you ask me.

You might check the symantic site for any special uninstall tools
(software). I had a problem with MacAfee and only after much searching did I
find that it will not uninstall properly unless you use their special
software to remove it.
