Switching from Eudora to Outlook

Hi! I'm being forced to change from Eudora to Outlook 2003. I have 8 years worth of email in Eudora, and I'm concerned about losing a lot of information when switching over.

Are there any solutions for importing and not losing the email sent dates and statuses (replied, forwarded, etc.)? I'm willing to pay for add-on software or anything that will make the transition better. I'm not concerned with the address books, just the emails.

I will definitely keep Eudora around as an archive, but I'd like all of my mail in one place because I refer constantly to old emails.

I would appreciate any help! Thank you!

Outlook 2003 now imports from Eudora. Check out the article at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2003/three/ch9/OutD01.htm. Notice the
section titled: Upgrading from other mail and scheduling programs

Good Luck

The main problem you will encounter is messages with attachments. Eudora
keeps attachments in a separate file, rather than with the message as
Outlook does. If you have attachments that you want to keep, then save them
to your HDD first, as the import in Outlook will NOT import the attachment
with the message.

Isn't the file on the hard drive already, in an attachments folder?

Outlook has always imported from Eudora - up to version 4. According to the
import wizard, Outlook does not support v5 but I don't have v5 installed to
verify.

The only difference between v4 and v is that in v5 you can specify a
non-default location for mail boxes. Otherwise the mailbox format is exactly
the same. I'm fairly sure outlook will import v5 (using the v4 wizard) if
it is in the default location, and reasonably sure that if it isn't, you can
navigate to the location within the import dialog.
