There's another freeware .swf player at:
http://www.globfx.com/products/swfplayer/
(for Windows 98/ME/NT4/2000/XP)

Incidentally, if you like .swf files, try:
http://www.kontrabandcontent.co.uk/1/graphics/pics/NAKED.swf
(Note: Includes audio content --- turn the sound up first)

Hilarious! It reminds me of a time my friend Wiley sent me an
executable (they were quite safe in those days)attachment named
"bearded.exe". When you ran it, well, let's just say that your desktop
suddenly was displaying a wallpaper that was not in the best of taste.
Now I can and will get back at him.

when that link flashed up on my screen ( thank god I kept the audio turned

wanted to know wtf I was doing. I'm not sure if it was an attempt at humor
on your part
or if you're just one more of lifes many, many tossers.

My apologies to your wife. Sometimes my sense of humour (Brit spelling) gets
the better of me, but as the thread was about .swf players I thought it was
on-topic (sort of).

Glad you liked it, John. I got the link from http://www.ebaumsworld.com/ --
there's lots more.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I can't get SWF files (versions 6 and
7) to play. If I load them into Mozilla 1.7 they play just fine.
Swiff Player just sits there and SWF-Opener just keeps dinging with an
unexplained error message.

Using W98SE.

Have you tried changing the file association to either Swiff Player or
SWF-Opener?

I have. All SWF files up to (and including) version 5 play fine in
Irfanview. All SWF files play fine in Mozilla. Files up to (and
including) 5 *play* in Swiff Player/SWF-OPener but with no audio.
Versions 6 and 7 open but just sit there. Swiff Player displays no
error messages and SWF Opener keeps hammering some unknown error
message and can only be closed via Task Manager. Audio settings are
confirmed as being good. FWIW I'm using an ATI Saphire Radeon 9200.
