SWF in Powerpoint

G

Guest

I have created a chart using Rich Chart Builder from Blue Pacific Software.
Using the RCB inbuilt converter, this has been saved as a swf file. I have an
existing PP 2003 file in which I have tried to embed the flash file through
the normal way of inserting swf into PP. The swf image shows in the inserted
position but does not play the animation that goes with it. I have all the
latest active X controls and run XP with all the updates.
Anyone help please?

"The normal way of inserting swf" for you could be something different than
what's normal for me.

How exactly did you insert (and embed) the SWF into your PPT file?

Are you playing the presentation in PPT 2003 or in the PPT 2003 Viewer?

Blue Pacific Software has released a new build for Rich Chart Builder
that corrects this strange behaviour with PPT. Download it here:

Hi, thanks for your response.
Sorry, usual route - More controls - insert flash object - point to the
location of the SWF file - opt for embed file - opt for playing=true

What do you think?
Thanks

The animation should replay when you click the chart background.
Doesn't it?

Hm. Any possibility it just needs to be rewound?

Just to make sure that's not the problem, you might try FlashBack, a free
add-in from Shyam Pillai. It rewinds SWF files embedded into PPT.
http://www.mvps.org/skp/

Oh, you are trying to play the SWF in slide show view, right? It won't play
in normal edit mode.

If that doesn't do the trick, I think I'd contact the Blue Pacific crew.

When following the excellent instructions on flashgeek, I can open properties
of Shockwave Flash object, but don't have 'Custom' as the first row in order
to add the URL of the swf I want to add.

Yeah, I think this is an issue with some of the more recent ActiveX

Do you have an "embed" line in the properties? If so, put the file path
there.
