swen worm problems

I was the recent victim of this worm and have tried to
follow the instructions for removal by Trend Micro and
Norton but there is a problem. If I try to start my virus
checker I get an error message, "memory access violation
in module kernel/32 at 4283:236 19539" I cannot run
regedit.exe to install the changes recommended by Trend
Micro because I get the same error message. How do I get
past this? Thanks for any help. Steve

Boot the computer in Safe Mode, and try the removal instructions from there.

Did you try to start the computer in Safe Mode and turn off
"System Restore"?
Scroll down to the bottom part of this Norton's site and see if
the removal instructions they posted help.
