I have an older Compaq 12xl300 that I am going to upgrade hard drive in. I'm
going from a 6 to a 20g hard drive. I am going to reinstall the XP software
on it after the swap, will I be able to reactivate the windows beings it's
been activated one time before, maybe a year ago? I have another laptop I
have to do this on too so I would love to find an answer soon, Thanks a bunch
people!

Yes reinstalling OEM Windows on essentially the same hardware should
not be an issue.

Note: Your Windows XP installation files (most like a disk image of
the finished install) may be on a hidden partition on the old hard
drive so make sure you have these in place and available for the
reinstall.

Good luck

Actually, I've never had to do anything to XP Pro/Home when the SOLE
upgrade is the hard drive. One can GHOST from one drive to another
and that's it. However, a motherboard switch WILL deactivate Windows,
requiring another activation pass before one can use that isntallation
again....Jet
