Swap floppy drives?

Hey there.

My old internal FD didn't work with XP so I bought a new external USB one
that does. Now, is there any way to get XP to recognise the new drive as "A"
as opposed to the "B" it currently does?

Is the old floppy drive disconnected from the motherboard and not invoked in
the BIOS? Do that and see what happens.
