Hello Group,
Is it safe to turn off automatic updates, using Windows Live OneCare?
Thanks

It's OK to turn off Microsoft Updates (which will solve high CPU usage
within svchost) but don't turn off the Windows Update.

Hello Group,

Having or not Having Windows Live One Care doesn't have any relationship to
the impact of Automatic updates.

It's not safe or unsafe turning off AU. What is important is to keep the
system updated. If it's turned off, and you don't manually go to the Update
site regularly to check for updates, then it can become unsafe, because the
system is not updated. But just turning off Automatic Updates does not, in
and of itself, make anything unsafe.
