My virus detection program PC-cillin informs me that
svchost.exe is requesting access to the internet on port 1900.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here.

PC-cillin finds no viruses on my system.

.
Any windows based application, such as windows messenger,
or outlook express which needs to connect online uses the
service called svchost.exe to be able to access the
internet, its part of windows XP foundation core.

Some trojans and malware also use svchost I would download
both ad-aware and spybot(can get both from cnet.com or
search google for em) and run them to see if thats a valid
access or not.
