after installing win2000 professional,and when connected to
the internet iam getting the message: svchost.exe has
generated errors and will be closed by windows.you will
need to restart the program. How can i get rid of this
program error?, need help, thanks.

That sounds very much like the MSBlaster Virus.
Go to the Symantec website and run the Scan utility to see if it is sat in
your WINNT\System 32 directory.

Microsoft Website has the Patch to block the virus with instructions.

Your computer maybe infected by a worm that's why
svchost.exe was damaged. Svchost.exe is an important file
used in a network service. Try installing the security
patch from the Microsoft then download also the latest
windows 2000 service pack. Good luck!
