svchost.exe - referenced memory

Wes

I receive the following error after I have been in IE 6
for 30 to 60 minutes: svchost.exe - "The instruction at
0x77fcc665 referenced memory at 0x0000279b. The memory
could not be written." After this message appears nothing
on my right click menu works. I have to restart or unplug
my phone line to disconnect my dial-up modem.

I'm running W2K w/ SP4 and SP1 on IE6. The message first
started showing up after VS.Net Everett expired. I
uninstalled VS.Net and the .Net Framework w/ no success. I
was getting another error but I don't recall what it was.
I reformatted the drive and reinstalled W2K and all of the
service packs. I ran the bug removal for blaster and
sobig, but they were not found on this drive. I do have a
removable WinXP drive that did have the blaster virus
which I removed.
I have found out the basic purpose of svchost.exe and some
other problem in the knowledge base, but have yet to come
across anything about the memory.
Can someone point me ion the right direction.
Thanks.

Hi
I've had the same issue which was caused by the blaster worm, the sobig virus is a mass mailing virus and deactivated on 10 Sept. Service pack 4, both rpc patches combined with norton anti-virus resolved my issue.
cheers
