possible to get a new file? i need the answer before 10:30 because my
computer may get screwed (who knows, someone may shut it down). Please help!

First, see if the file exists under c:\windows\system32\dllcache
If it does, copy to c:\windows\system32

If not,
Under the i386 folder, there is a file svchost.ex_

From a CMD window:

1. CD i386
2. Type: expand svchost.ex_ svchost.exe
3. Copy svchost.exe c:\windows\system32
4. Copy svchost.exe c:\windows\system32\dllcache
5. Reboot

You may need to perform a Windows Update to determine if there have been any
SVCHOST.EXE updates/patches since the date of your i386 version.

Make sure Norton doesn't do it again.

I just noticed something. I forgot that svchost.exe is in the system32
folder! It still exists. Thanks for the reply, it helped. Plus, I learned
another thing about how to use the folder! Back to exehq.com,

You should learn that turning off autoprotect's repair option in Norton is
good. I got viruses, norton repaired the files and those were critical
system files and i have to reinstall pc.
Even when Autoprotect's repir is off, it will warn you so that you can
analyze it.

ONe more thing, NOrton saves the original file in its quarentine
