i have been reading for almost three hours about svhost.exe errors and probable solutions. i too have the problem even after re-formatting my hard disk and installing windows 2000 professional anew. is it possible that there is a d e f i n i t e solution to the problem or are there myriad reasons for the problem. i had the blaster worm but after removal by symantec tool no worm is any more discovered, but the problem remains. could it be, that if you do not have an always up to date firewall, an always up to date virus protection, an always up to date windows 2000 (which is quite a lot for a time to time home-user of the internet) you will continually get the worm again when going online and it will frustrate you endlessly.

question to microsoft experts: is there a definite and structural solution to this problem? or should i and many others forget about using microsoft products with the internet because it is so vulnerable and insecure??

Did you download the appropriate patches from Microsoft? Just reinstalling
without applying the patches will not solve your problem.
