SVCHOST.EXE ERROR

I GET THIS BOX THAT POPS UP AND READS THIS ERROR. WHAT IS
IT? HOW DO I FIX IT? I LOOK AT THE LOG AND THE FILE AND IT
DOES NOT SAY WHAT IT BELONGS TO. I AM USUALLY ON LINE WHEN
THIS POPS UP. PLEASE EMAIL ME IF ANYONE CAN HELP. STUMPED.

This was my main symptom (among others)of the blaster.exe.
I did my research, did the manual repair, & applied the MS
patch. Haven't seen the SVCHOST.exe error message since.

It is possible that the computer is infected with the Blaster virus. Please

I had similar problems...started late last week (week of
the seventh). Lately, while online, svchost.exe "developed
errors" & closed.

I began doing some looking & found that, after initial
start-up, svchost was listed twice in the task manager.
Once one of these shuts down, most links, favorites bar,
copy-&-paste, & a couple of other functions are dead.
Further, if I am in the middle of a download, the download
is terminated by this error. Subsequently, I cannot
disconnect from the Internet without shutting down my
computer.

Essentially, I have to reboot to get things functional
again.

In my case, no error log is created (that I can find,
anyway).

Any ideas?

The first thing in the instructions is to DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERTNET!!

This is one of the symptoms of the blaster virus, that has been making the
rounds this week--unfortunately, it is likely that your computer has also
been infected by it.

There is a patch available for this virus--please follow the steps listed at
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp as soon as possible to
install the patch and recover from the virus.
