SVCHOST.EXE error message

Hi, can anyone assist me to solve a problem I'm having
with Windows 2k Professional? The problem is an error
message that occurs, at random, when using either IE or
Outlook 2000. The message says:-

"Svchost.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
Windows. You wiill need to restart the program. An error
log will be created."

I have visited the Knowledge Base and extracted the
several articles that refer to this problem but none cover
my setup. I don't have Novell Groupwise, neither do I
restart the computer if I have not disconnected from a
phone call.

I do have SP4 installed.

Please can anyone help before I become completely bald?

I had the same problem. You have a virus. Go to the below
websites and get the virus remover and the patch.

Please go to McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/default.asp) and/or Trend
(http://housecall.antivirus.com ) and perform an online scan of your platform then report
back your results.

Based upon those results, we can go on from there.

In Addition:
If you post to UseNet with your TRUE, not a munged, email address then you have invited the
swen Internet worm [aka; W32/Gibe-F] to visit you.

The Swen is news spelled backwards. The reason it is called this is because the Swen worm
harvests email addresses from UseNet News Groups. It has an engine that allows it to post
itself to UseNet News Groups as well as it has its own email engine. From the list of
email addresses that it has harvested, it will then email itself to those addresses.
