svchost error

I get the error message "svchost has generated errors and
will be closed by windows" at random times after
connecting and it is not due to either of the conditions
listed in the Microsoft knowledge base.
Can anyone please help ??

I am getting the same message. Just installed 2000 and
added SP4 and some other security downloads, so doubt it
is the blaster.

1. I notice that just after getting the below-referenced
error message, I am no longer able to paste text either
from one internet window to a form on another internet
window or from the internet to, say, notepad.

2. Online buttons and toggles, etc no longer work and
objects on pages like check boxes, etc do not appear as
they normally do.

So far, to fix this problem I have totally shut down the
computer and rebooted it--a cold boot. This appears to do
the trick and may confirm a Knowledge Base article about
registry/RAM usage for a different error message that may
work with our error message. (In one article, it mentions
that, in other networking environments, it slowly eats up
the RAM, up to 100%.) Moreover, in that article is says
something about its use as the DLL gobetween and says to
contact a third-party provider (whose name I can't recall
now...search the base for "svchost") for more information.

In another article related to a different error message,
there is a fix for a registry-related problem. I am so
sick of closing 10 windows and starting over all the time,
I want to see if tweaking the registry would help, but
would like any advise about this fixbefore I try it.
