Suspiciously changing home page.... SP.html

V

Vijayendra

My home page is changed to some search site. The file
SP.html in the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP is referenced in the
registry.

The suspicious keys are
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Search Bar: file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html
search Page: file://C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\sp.html

HOMEOldSP : about:blank

Even if i change my home page, the settings are
automatically changed.
The file sp.html is again created even if i delete it.

How to overcome this problem???

Your machine is infected with spyware/malware. Go get
copies of Ad-Aware and Spybot (both free) and run them.
That should clean your machine.

You might want to consider using a different browswer such
as Firefox, Opera, etc. They all have built-in pop-up
blocking so the ads which install this stuff on your system
don't even appear.

Another option might be to get Googles Toolbar which also
has built-in pop-up blocking.

While you are at it, get Spyware Blaster. It will add entries to IE that
will prevent your browser from ever being hijacked again.
