"Suspect" file--- aka--trojan horse

Curtis

I cannot run Norton AntiVirus 2004.
I did go online to Symantec and their online virus test
shows that I do have a virus.
It shows a file with a trojan horse.
The file name is SYSTEM32\NTLSTP40.AX
I checked my Windows XP installation disk and the search
command does not find this file, but the search command
does find this file on my C: drive.
Also, when checking the Microsoft site, it tells me that
this file is not recognized.
I suspect this file is the Trojan horse and should be
deleted.
Any replies to this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

If their online scan showed this the one on youe system should have as well
it must be out of date?

I suggest you replace norton with a real virus scanner
http://nod32.com/download/trial.htm

Failing that if it's a trojan most likely it malware try these.

Sometimes, when you remove malware it will stop your TCP/IP
stack from working (Internet connection).
Winsock or LSP-fix will correct the problem,Download first.
Note to anyone using NOD32 Anti-Virus software,Do Not delete the
"imon.dll" this fix reports,That is your e/mail scanning engine.

I suggest that you take any recommendation for ANY antivirus program as
being better than any other as suspect.

NOD32 recently did very poorly on a test conducted by ZDNet labs in Germany.

It missed several common viruses.
