TROJAN HORSE

My anti-virus has just detected a trojan horse in some of my files. Can
anyone help me. Should I just delete the files or should I take my computer
in to get cleaned up?
Many Thanks, Gabby

Knowing the exact name of the Trojan horse, if your anti-virus software
specified one, and the file name in which it was found, would be useful.
But you can probably rely on your antivirus software to clean it for you.
If your antivirus product gave insufficient information to identify the
Trojan horse, you could go to www.virustotal.com and upload the file there
to more accurately identify what it is and what it does.

Thanks, Karl, the Trojan Horse was WIN32synaptics, not sure if this is the
one a lot of people got . I will just delete the files and see if that
works.

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm

I am new to this!! After running my antivirus I get a message that says my
memory is infected and asks if I want to reboot while the anti-virus does
its work. When I click yes I get a message saying that the Required
permission is not held by the client. When I check my user account it shows
me as the manager. Can you help me as to what is wrong and how I can fix it?
Many thanks, Gabby

It might be that you are running two different antivirus programs at the
same time, and one is detecting another? It's probably a good idea to
disable the real-time on-access component of one antivirus before you run
another antivirus scan such as Multi AV.
