SUS problem

Hello,

Does SUS work? It seems it's intermittent on my side. It will update
the computer maybe once, I approve newer updates and my workstation
(Domain/GPO) just sits there like a sore thumb? I specified in my GPO to
perform the update at 04:00 in the morning. The workstation is on(btw, I'm
currently using only one test machine for SUS) the entire night, but in the
morning when I check to see if the workstation was updated, it's not. I
have SUS installed on a Win2k Server SP3 and my workstation is XP. I have my
GPO not specified in the Default policy on the Domain, rather applied to a
OU. Also, I'm assigning my workstation object to that GPO, by moving my
computer object to the designated OU. I have also ran GPUpdate.exe to
refresh the policies in AD. Am I doing this right?

Thank you
Alex Anderson

Have you checked your windows update.log file, event logs and IIS logs?
have you read the deployment guide from MS?

Serverguy,

I have read the deployment guide and white paper, and I do believe I
have it set up correctly because it works again intermittently. Here is
what I mean, after I have approved an update for my XP workstation (I made
sure it was specifically for XP) the computer sometimes receives the update
from the SUS server and then it waits for the schedule time that is
specified in my GPO. Sometimes it get the update immediate, sometimes it
never gets it. It's seem the workstation is selective, but not in the way
if it already has the update, I understand why it wouldn't. Any help would
be appreciated.

Thank you
Alex Anderson
