SUS new updates question

B

Brian

If you use the default automatic update service that you
get with services packs you are notified when a new update
is available from Microsoft, as far as I know this cant be
done with SUS unless it is the specific time during the
day that is set in the registry. If Microsoft can alert
your machines why not SUS or if it can, how?

SUS will notify also with the same WindowsUpdate icon on
the system tray only if you're logged on as administrator
and the update has been approved on the SUS server side.
With regular users, it has to go by a schedule coz the
users do not have administrator privileges to install
updates.
