Surf The Net With TOTAL Security

Interested in surfing the Net, but not having to ever worry about viruses,
trojans, worms or other malware? Here's a neat way of doing it ...

1) Go here: http://byzgl.sourceforge.net/

2) Under Download, click on the "iso" link

3) Under ByzantineOS Images click on:
Download byzantine-i586-20040404.iso.gz (under 45MB)

4) Select a Mirror to download from

5) Save the file to a folder on your computer

6) Unzip the file and you'll have:
byzantine-i586-20040404.iso

7) Open up a CD burning app like Nero and choose to burn an image (don't
just copy the iso file to a CD)

8) Burn the CD

9) Restart your computer making sure your BIOS is set to boot from CDROM
first

10) ByzantineOS will boot and let you (quickly) choose the resolution you
want to run your monitor in.

11) You will quickly get to a GUI desktop that is essentially the Mozilla
web browser. Here you can surf the web, play an assortment of card games,
instant message, etc. (the browser comes configured to use both Java and
Adobe Acrobat)

Since nothing on your computer is touched and the OS is running from RAM,
you can safely do all your web surfing without ever being concerned about
being attacked. When you want to quit, just remove the CD and turn off your
computer. :)

For people with more expertise it's possible to create your own ISO image
that can contain things like photos, music and movies, so that you can have
a multimedia machine running exclusively from a CD that you can take to any
PC and run.

Just a small example of the possibilities and versatility of Linux.

A. Yes it is. It's called "Top Posting" and frowned on by the Usenet
community.
Q. But isn't that backasswards?
A. If their reply comes BEFORE what they are quoting, they probably use
Outlook Express under Windoze.
Q. How can I tell what OS a Usenet poster runs?

That's nice, dear. Now run away and play in c.o.l.a. like a good little
troll. Your post is OT for this newsgroup which is *not* an advocacy
group but a place for users to get technical help with the Windows XP
operating system. And one of the worst things about people like you is
that you don't help the Open Source/Linux cause at all.

Afraid that someone around here might get exposed to something other than
all the malware that comes with running Windoze?

It was a useful tip that any computer user might be interested in. I won't
comment on the silliness of Elephant Boy Computers and you who claims to
be: "Serving the Fresno, CA Area with Quiet Dignity and Grace". Lots of
"dignity" in that silly website of yours and silly mascot.

Look at my headers, idiot. You *do* know how to read headers in KNode,
don't you? You can even put the "toggle headers" button on the toolbar.
Right-click on an empty area of the toolbar and choose "Configure
Toolbars".

It's not a useful tip for people who don't even know how to change their
boot order.

It's a joke, idiot. Not only are you harming the good name of Linux, you
are humor-impaired.

Yes "dear", I know what you're running. So?

OK, those unable to change their boot order won't find it useful. But others
who can accomplish this *major* computing task, could find it interesting.
I still don't know what your f**king problem is?

I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want people to hear about
something other than the Wintendo systems you service. It would put you out
of business if people starting running a computer system that didn't
constantly crash, get plugged up with spyware and viruses and didn't need
constant "maintenance".
It's a joke, idiot. Not only are you harming the good name of Linux, you

I'm harming the good name of Linux by simply pointing out what I consider a
really neat distro that others might want to look at? You're an idiot just
looking to milk computer users with your "dignified" services. Now go away
and play somewhere else. Come back when you're honest with other computer
users. When you're ready to help them find alternatives that work, which
you've obviously done for yourself but appear so afraid to share with
others.
