Super strange windows xp install issues.. Please help!

So i got the dreaded BSoD on my windows xp w/sp2 partition a couple of nights
ago and could not recover the system. I went ahead and backed up the
documents i needed off the hd and out of curiosity checked to see if my vista
beta 2 partition would still work (as well as vista can work at least) and it
did. I grabbed a brand new hd, installed windows xp64 on it and got the BSoD
on the first load. Since the first load i get the BSoD about 2/3 times i boot
the pc. Some times it just freeezes at the windows load screen and locks up
the pc. Fed up with the system not working, i reformatted the orignal HD,
installed win xp w/sp2 and it BSoD'd the very first load, and never ever made
it to the login screen.

Ive got a basic set up, nforce4 mobo, geforce 7900 gcard, a gig of ultra ram
and a athlon x2 4200+ processer. Vista still works fine, i know the ram is
good i tested it in other pcs, i had been running xp on the system for 3
months, and it worked fine, i didnt install any new hardware when the
problems started. I know the copies of windows are good because they are all
current msdn copies.

PLEASE does anyone know why a good system would run vista, but suddenly
start crashing when trying to run xp?

Driver problems? More info is needed. What is the error on the bsod?

it was a memory dump with about 3 different strings in the brackets that say
what the error was. Im at work right now so i cant check, but i remember them
having alot of zeros in them with a few other numbers or letters at the
begining and end of each one. I will check what it was for sure when i get
home and post them.

Okay, so besides all the normal junk that is says on the bsod, here is what
it said SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Stop: 0x0000003B (0x0000000080000003, 0xFFFFF8000119C308,
0xFFFFFADFF91FAD60, 0x0000000)
Dump Physical memory.

Like i said before, fresh hard drives, new installs using good copies of
windows xp/windows xp64 on a system that had worked before with popular and
common hardware and no new hardware installed before the problems started.
Any help would be great

I haven't seen that stop code personally and can't find a lot of info about
it. There's a couple of good articles here:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=0x0000003B+&btnG=Google+Search

Have you run any ram tests on this computer. Sometimes ram works on some
motherboards and not others. Were the original bsod's the same error?

sounds i think it was caused by a loose ide cord to my dvd drive.. Thanks for

Glad to hear you got it working. That's not a newb thing. I've seen many
experienced techs work on a coumputer then not go through a checklist before
they put the cover back on and spend hours trying to figure out why there is
now a problem. Whenever I have a cover off I check all the connections
before the cover goes back on. Don't ask how many hours I spent on wild
goose chases before I learned to do this :)
