Hi,

A simple filter meets my basic need but I need to do a sum on the filtered
dataset. I have placed a sum at the bottom of the column and it disappears
when I filter. Moved the sum down a couple of cells and it still disappears.

Am I missing something?

Thanks, it doesn't disappear anymore but it sums the whole dataset, not the
filtered data. Anything else I can try?

Are you using the correct function?

The SUBTOTAL function is designed for use on filtered data.

If you want to sum column A then you would use a formula something like
this:

=SUBTOTAL(9,A5:A100)

The 9 means SUM.

See Excel help on the SUBTOTAL function for the complete list of function
numbers.

Ok, ta.
That's probably it!
Regards.
Bill.
