SUGGESTION TO SHORTEN BOOT UP TIME

SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO SHORTEN BOOT UP TIME
I had notebook with run by WinXpSp2
..
I had discovered that my laptop boot up time is increased and I want
to shorten it. Somebody suggested to check the event viewer and found
out that there are application errors amounting to 512 kb and viewing
the properties found these
Name: T size
Application log application error 512 kb
Security log security audit 64kb
System log system error 512 kb
What does this information means?
The application errors it says that when the capacity has reached 512
kb it can either be manually deleted, overwrite events when needed or
overwrite manually.
I would like know what is the best option for the three choices given?
Another suggestion was to Right-click "My Computer", Properties,
"Advanced" tab, "Startup and Recovery" Advanced button,
and change the two "Time to display..." settings to 5 seconds instead
of 30, and OK your way out
Could somebody give me some ideas?

I tend to use "overwrite as needed" and bump up the app & system logs to
about 20MB each.

This post doesn't, of course, tell us what errors you've *got* in said logs.
You're just talking about the log sizes.

Re your bootup time - you might go to msconfig and see what's in your
startup tab, & non-MS services.

Thanks for the information Lanwrench....
The default setting was overwrite and I can't see the errors either..
..Do I have to post the log file?
I was thinking about deleting it but would like to know the consequence
of such action.
I am really keen to find the solution to the slow boot up times....
Now regarding the msconfig options what are your suggestions that might
led to another solution
