suggestion for new versons of windows if any Microsoft people look at these

a suggestion that i would make to microsoft would be that
they make it so the updates not just update the system but
will check for problems i.e. damaged files, deleted files,
ect....
the main reason i had to do a fresh install this time is
because Internet Explorer got crupted and when i tried to
reinstall i could not because it said i had and there was
no place to dl the full IE.

I am bout ready to go back to 98se or get rid of windows
all together. I just want a OS I don't need all of the
other stuff that microsoft has included with windows(any
version).
i have diskdefragers, i have media players, i have picture
viewers i dont need the microsoft lite versons i would not
besuprized if the next verson does no come on a dvd rom
drive.

I agree, I would rather rent the program and make it self-
healing. If it has a problem, start it with a com disk and
let it do it's thing.

Interesting suggestion, but I think it would cause more problems than it
would solve. Patches are designed to do one thing - patch. Adding more
functionality to the patch installers would mean that it takes longer to
both download and install the patches. Aside from that, System File Checker
is already capable of doing this.

FYI - this may help in the future:

There's absolutely nothing stopping you from using your defraggers or media
players or picture viewers, is there? If you know what programs you want to
use for those roles, good for you. For people who don't, however, it's
nice to have a tool available to them to use without having to know where to
get it.

The Digital Music "revolution" never would have taken off is users had to go
download their own MP3 player just to listen to them. Sure, it's not too
difficult for knowledgeable people to find MP3 playing software, but it
certainly is for new computer users.

If you've got a media player that your like better than Windows Media
Player, install it. That's all you've got to do.

Not a big deal, I feel...

This is not Microsoft Tech Support or a Microsoft suggestion box. This
is a newsgroup (Google for "Usenet" for information about newsgroups)
for peer-to-peer support with the XP operating system. See my answer to
your previous post about your computer problem.
