Suddenly, pc will not recognize any cd or floppy, wants to format

PC suddenly will not recognize ant cd, dvd or floppy. Says that the disk needs to be formated...

Boot the machine with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com (you may have
to create this disk on some other machine). If you can read your CDs and
your floppy disks then you have a Windows problem. If you can't then you
have a hardware problem.
