Suddenly a LAN cannot be seen

All right we need know why a workstation cannot suddenly see
a server on the LAN.

I suspect malware, but it their anything else that I need
to analyse?

Single subnet LAN or multiple subnet Lan w/ WINS server?

This can be caused by a firewall on any computer on the subnet. A
firewalled computer tends to make itself Master Browser then refuse to
communicate with any other machine on the subnet.
