Success! I fixed it!

Under "Tools>Options>Security>Zone Settings>Custom Level"
I found "Miscellaneous>Access Data Sources Across Domains"
This was disabled. I enabled it and now my Info Center View works.
Thought I'd come back and post this in case anyone else has the same problem.

Thanks for posting back, cranky. I'm among the many who are holding off
on installing SP2 while learning from the experiences of others.
