subspooler app error/networking problemn

G

g12man

I have tried setting up network. The host machine runs
XP, the client, Windows 98. When I run the networking
wizard, I get error message that says "Spooler Subsystem
App" needs to close. I have tried typing net stop
spooler before running wizard, and net start spooler
during wizard, but this doesn't help. Each machine
recognizes its own files.

When I click "view" network, I get message that "mshome
is not accesible, you might not have permissionm to use
the network resources--contact the admin. of the server
to find out if you have permission."

HELP!, please

Greetings g12man,

Did you have the Windows XP's firewall enabled when you ran the Network
Wizard?

How did you attempt to run the Wizard?

Did you receive the error on both or only the XP machine?

Did the Network Wizard create a bridge?

How are your machine connected?

Hello Eric:

I cannot tell u whether the firewall was enabled. It
isn't now, but I had the same problem.

I ran the wizard from Network Connections-Set Up a Home
Network.

There was no bridge created.

The machines are connected with wireless router and usb
adapter.

I am not getting any messgae on the 98 machine. only the
host XP machine.

Thanks 4 ur help

I don't know the cause but I'm trying to figure this one out. You providing
the necessary steps will help us out.

Do you have a printer attached to the XP machine? If so, click "Start" and
then click "Printers and Faxes". The reason why I ask this question is
because there is a similar spooler error that you will receive going into
the Printer and Faxes to view your printers. If so, take a look here.

"Spooler Subsystem App Has Encountered a Problem and Needs to Close" and
"Operation Could Not Be Completed" Error Messages
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324757

And Spooler errors usually refer to a printer. If you have a printer
installed, what would happen if you uninstalled your current printer and try
running the XP Network Wizard?
