Subreports generate extra copies of the report

I have a report with two subreports. If there are no items in either of the
subreports, the report is, say, 2 pages. If there are, for example, 3 items
in the first subreport and 4 items in the second subreport, the report then
becomes 2x3x4 pages long, or 24 pages--12 full copies of the report! How do
I keep these extra copies of the report from proliferating as I add items to
subreports? I'm pretty sure it's not related to page margins, etc.

Most likely, the main report's record source query has joins
to the same tables that are using in the subreports. If so,
then just remove the extra tables from that query.
