Subject Line Appearing in top receiving window

When I receive e-mails, below the senders name/e-mail address it has the
subject listed. It hasn't always been like that. Can anyone tell me how to
get rid of that? I've tried everything. Thanks!

Where are you seeing this? Is it in the little popup that appears at the
bottom of the screen? It's always had the subject as far as I know. Or are
you seeing this somewhere else?

If you are talking about the Preview pane, the Subject header has always
been there.
