Sub-options of Tools/Macros greyed out

After my laptop was rebuilt I went into Tools/Macro to run some code, only
to find the three sub options on Tools/Macros, Macros, Security and Visual
Basic Editor are all greyed out. Ah, I thought, maybe this is because I
have not re-installed VB6. But now that's done and rebooted, these options
are still greyed out. I have checked my logon account and it is in the
Administrators group. This Outlook 2003 on XP Pro. Any suggestions as to
where to look next would be gratefully received.

Did you try a click on ?->Info->Deactivated Elements and activate the
VBA-Addin?

Thanks Michael. I assume you mean from within Outlook, go to
Help>About>Disabled Items
There was an item there but it was something to do with virusscan (I
remember getting a message about something like that being disabled a few
days ago) so I enabled it, restarted Outlook. Now the are no Disabled
items, but hasn't fixed my problem.
I also did Help>About>System Info>Office 2003 Applications>Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003>COM Addins and it says Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin status
is "installed Yes". When I installed it, I did it over the network. When it
finished it said Restart? so I said yes, but then it dropped the link with
our building server. When it restarted the install came up with a dialog box
saying it could not find a certain resource (because it was not on the
network) so maybe the install was trying to do some post-install customizing
and could not do it?
I'm going to copy the s/w to my laptop and re-install from there so after
the reboot it ought to be able to finish up OK
what do you think?
thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

I think trying to de- and then re-install the VBA support is a good
idea.

Michael
I've now re-installed but no change. Still cannot get into VBA. I notice
it's accessible from both Word and Excel. But in Outlook, the three sub
options on Tools/Macros menu: Macros, Security and Visual Basic Editor, are
all greyed out
oh dear!
any ideas?
thanks
Dave
