It seems that every minor change I make in the text of a Word document (Word
2002, 2003), such as underling a few words for emphasis or using italics,
generates a new style. or example, if the style in the particular paragraph
was Body Text, and I underline a word or two, I how have Body Text and Body
Text Underline for styles. Italicize a few words and now I also have Body
Text Italics. And so on. I know I can control what styles display using
Custom, but none of those proliferating styles show up in Custom. Is there
any way to fix this?
This changes from a minor annoyance to a headache if the Word document was
created through scanning which can produce more than a hundread styles--all
of them meaningless!
