Styles: make bullets and all lines get them??

My document has lines of different styles.

When my cursor is on one line and I click on the bullet-points toolbar icon,
every line in the document gets indented and a bullet point. But I just
wanted it for that one [selected] line!

There must be a setting for this.

Please tell me how to turn this off.
