Look under Microsoft Office button (pizza) at top left, Word Options.
and look for the "Style Area" option if this name has not been changed for
2007.

Click Office button | Word Options, Advanced category. Under "Display,"
specify the desired with of the style area at "Style area pane width in
Draft and Outline views."
