Style Sheets

I need to have my entire document in the "normal" style. However, I am
changing fonts and sizes. Each time I change a font/size WORD ads a new
style automatically and renames that section to the new style name. How can
I prevent this from happening?

I've already gone to format/styles/modify and automatic update is not
selected.

I also went to Tools/Template/Add-ins and automatic update is also no
selected.

Thank you!

Go to Tools > Options > Edit and clear the box for "Keep track of
formatting".

What you're seeing is not really different styles, just the indication
of the formatting (which enables you to click the "Select all x
instances" item in the dropdown next to the format's name).

I do not have this option under the edit. I do have "enable click and type"
in what appears to be the style section; is this the same thing?

Thank you.

You haven't said what version of Word you have. The "Keep track of
formatting" option (which is in the top area of the Edit tab) was introduced
in Word 2002.

In that case I'm not clear what it is that you're seeing, but I would
suggest that you make sure that "Define styles based on your formatting" is
not enabled (Tools | AutoCorrect | AutoFormat As You Type). See
