Stuttering with XP Pro

Howdy,

Whenever I type in any program, whatever I type doesn't keep up on the
screen. And I'm not a very fast typer.

Whenever I download video, I get some stuttering.

I've recently re-installed XP Pro, but this didn't help. If I disable
Norton, I still get the same results.

I have 1.25 GB of RAM.

Any ideas?

Check to see what's running in the background, AV software is notorius for
slowing down pc's
 
When you reinstalled XP did you ensure you updated the drivers for all your
hardware? Visit the motherboard manufacture's site to get the latest chipset
drivers and ensure your sound card drivers are up to date.
