stuck on verifying username and password

I have set up a VPN server on Server 2003. For now I just want to get
it working on my internal LAN. Eventually, I will put it on the
internet. When I try to connect from another computer on the LAN, it
seems to connect, then "verifying username and password" is all I see
until it times out.

I followed the directions to the letter from Mastering Windows Server
2003 and other sources. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I tried all the suggestions at www.chicagotech.net/vpnerrors.htm, but
still have the same problem.

There are no routers or firewalls between the client and the server.

I can not telnet to the server. Does this mean that RRAS is not set
up properly?

Thanks

Since you don't have router or firewall, I am assuming you have two NICs and enabled NAT. Check the NAT settings.

One NIC and no NAT. I am just trying to get VPN working on my LAN
before putting the server on the internet. I enabled NAT, and made
sure PPTP & Telnet ports were open, but there was no difference.
