triyng to fix a conflict between my CD and DVD readers, so I booted on "safe
mode" and by accindent I loaded my windows XP professional disc in my CD
reader and it started to install it, now the machine is stuck in "safe mode
when it reboots and my screen is black with the safe mode in the 4 corners. I
tried F8 options, nothing works...any suggestions ? HELP PLZ!!!!!!

Sounds like Safe Mode with command prompt.

Try this.

Open the Task Manager...
Ctrl + Shift + Esc | File | New Task (Run...) | Type: msconfig | Click
OK |

UNSelect: /SAFEBOOT under the boot.ini tab | Click Apply |
Under the General tab Select: Normal Startup - load all device drivers and
services | Click Apply and Close

Or...

Open Task Manager...
Ctrl + Shift + Esc | File | New Task (Run...) | Type: explorer |
Click OK |

And open msconfig from Start | Run

Or Windows key + R to open the run box.

Hi,
I cannot open anything from "safe mode" all I heva is a black screen. I
tried the ctrl+shif+escape but no luck. I thing this was a bad accident with
a casualty...:( There is a message box on safe mode that says.."windows XP
setup cannot run under safe mode. Setup will restart now". When it restarts
it goes all over again...back to the same screen and the same message box.

Hi,

XP cannot be installed within safe mode. It won't allow it. At this point,
if you get the quick screen that reads something like "finish the current XP
install" use the arrow button and select the first option which is your
original install.

If this is not possible, use a Win98 boot disk to run fdisk and check the
partitions listed. Modify from there. At all worst, to xcopy to run
winnt.exe from there.

Good luck!
