stubborn macros

I created a macro in Excel just as a test. The macro
editor shows that it has been deleted which is what I
wanted. The problem is when I open the spreadsheet in
Excel it still asks if I want to enable or disable
macros. If anyone can tell me how to really get rid of
the macro I would appreciate it.
