Stubborn Button

I inserted a button on a spreadsheet, and had a hyperlink attached that
moved the cursor back to the first worksheet, cell A1> The button no longer
works for some reason (the mouse depresses it, but nothing happens), and I
can't delete it. When I right click, nothing happens - the button isn't
selected (even though it clicks down), so I can't hit delete to get rid of
it.

Any suggestions ?

Sounds like a control toolbox button.

Select the control toolbox toolbar, and go to design mode, click the
blue-green triangle icon, and then just select the button and delete it.
