Stripping music from a home DVD

I want to create a powerpoint of photos of our daughter over the years and I
want her singing in the background . The problem is that the singing is
currently on a DVD that I made after using a camcorder to film her performing
.. Is there any way that I can strip away the music and save it on my laptop
and then use this music as the background to the Powerpoint of all her
photographs.

I don't think that PowerPoint has any way to do this on its own so you'll
need some other software. If I were to try to do this, my first step would
be to look to my video editing software. I would try to import the video
there and then export it as a sound file. How you would do this depends on
your video editing software. If that failed, I suppose I would look for some
shareware conversion tool that can convert from one file type to another.
