Strip html tags from imported emails

I just imported a bunch of emails from another program. Some look great. But
many have the html text format codes all visible, even though the email
message starts with a clearly defined <html> tag. Does someone know why
Outlook isn't smart enough to either strip tags automatically or better yet,
display message as html? Also, any ideas to help? Am I missing something
here? I searched all the help menus etc.

The mail program that you imported the messages from does not handle HTML
properly. Let me guess...Eudora?
