strikethrough

I am using word 2000. I would like to be able to put a dash thru a work while keeping the word to indicate that it should be deleted in future editing

Well, using the Track Changes feature could do this for you, or you can
apply strikethrough manually. Look under Tools | Customize, Commands tab,
select Format in left column, find Strikethrough in right column and drag
the icon to your toolbar. Or on the keyboard tab, set a shortcut key for
the command, or see if one exists.
