"strike through" option???

I would like to simultaneously highlight and also strike
through an entry or a series of entries...meaning, if
someone dropped a class, I could still show them on the
registration spreadsheet, but use different highlights to
show dates of drop and then a strike through line to show
them not currently attending rather than simply deleting
the entry.

I know it is possible, but HOW?

It would be done through conditional formatting, using formulas.

There is not enough information here to provide a formula, but you would
write a formula to assess whether a person has dropped or not (maybe as easy
as looking in a certain column for a certain value), and if that condition
is TRUE, the format would be applied (which can be strikethrough).
